i'm not alone when i say that it's their own damn fault for not listening. bush did warn the people of new orleans to evacuate. but what did most people do? nothing. haven't they learned from 'end of the world' movies? when the government fckin tells you, not ask, to evacuate, you fckin evacuate.
so what do i think about kanye west's bash on Dubya? unnecessary. kanye and mike myers were the celebrities that presented the 800 number for people to call and donate money for the hurricane katrina fund. instead of asking people to call and donate, kanye justified his hatred of the media and our government by stating that 'his people' have been despicably misrepresented in the media. it's not the first time that blacks have been portrayed wrongly on the media.

How ironic; Kanye's popularity was created because of the corporate media, and now he hates it.
well i suppose "his people" should have gotten the hell out when told to do so.
yah...totally! he shoudln't have used that benefit as his damned soapbox. i like kanye too..but dude, bad move man. i hate how they're so worried about who to blame, who gives a shit, that doens't matter right now.
Many critics have noted that while the local government gave a mandatory evacuation order on August 28, before the storm hit, they did not make provisions to evacuate the large numbers of homeless, low-income people, the elderly, the infirm or car-less households. Evacuation was mainly left up to individual citizens to find their own way out of the city. Officials knew that many residents of New Orleans lack cars. A 2000 census revealed that 27% of New Orleans households, amounting to approximately 120,000 people, were without privately owned transportation. Officials also did not take into account the fact that New Orleans has one of the highest poverty rates in the United States at about 38%. These factors prevented many people from being able to evacuate on their own. Consequentially most of those stranded in the city are the poor, the elderly, and the sick.
